Walnut Hill Shopping Center was constructed in 1967. The old photograph was taken in 1972 by Ron Lichterman during the grand opening of his new store, Junior Miss, which replaced a sporting goods store at this location. Junior Miss sold clothing for young women and eventually closed in 1977. The Dairy Queen was another popular spot in this shopping center back then. When I was kid, in the 1980s, there was a wall paper store where Junior Miss was. Today, the MVA Express is a popular destination. Archived Comments

Maple Spring Farm was located at the corner of Darnestown and Dufief Mill Roads. Built by Alexander Garrett in 1879, the house is an example of typical vernacular architecture constructed in Montgomery County during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The structure was significantly altered during the construction of an attached brick medical center. The outbuildings include a large dairy barn, a hay barn and two garages. The dairy barn was used as a veterinary clinic for years. Archived Comments
