Nancy Zanner Correll 7/29/09 My father bought a light blue 1963 Pontiac Tempest convertible from King Pontiac when the dealership was in this location.
Regina Moses Carelli 5/18/10 I think it is a shame that the King Farm development is part of Rockville. There are no streets in the development named after the King family because, I was informed when I asked, they did not do anything for Rockville. DUH!!!
Bob Shreffler 5/19/10 I had bought several cars from King Pontiac (Dick Evans, Sales person) ie: Evans Esso! At that time I owned Melody Inn (Middlebrook Tavern)
Fred Powell Jr 9/24/10 I remember that Pontiac dealership on Diamond. and Melody Inn too. Zanner, related to Zanner DDS? He was my dentist for years.
Richard Crystal 9/30/10 My mom was born in Gaithersburg in 1933. Her father Jacob Wolfson founded J.Wolfson on Diamond Ave in 1908 and my dad operated a furniture store on Main St. briefly in the 60s. I recall as a child when my dad would come home and surprise us all with a brand new King Pontiac! The above photo shows the new Pontiacs for 1959!
Mitch Gardner 11/4/10 King Pontiac used to donate cars to the Drivers Ed. program at GHS every yr. They also gave complete car chassis to the auto mechanics class that were totally functional- What a blast to drive!
Deaner Lawless Jr. 2/23/11 Anyone remember the name of the small grocery store left of King Pontiac? Took a lot of pop bottles there for a $.02 refund.
Bob Newhouse 4/10/11 Their kids always drove nice Pontiacs. I remember a particularly nice white Grand Prix convertable.
Nancy Zanner Correll 7/27/11 Hi, Fred, Yes, I am Al Zanner Jr.'s daughter. He is a retired dentist who practiced in G'burg for 35 years. When he established his practice on Summit Ave. in 1960, he was one of maybe five dentists in town. He later bought the old Tetlow property on Brookes Ave. and turned it into his dental office.
Danny Brodt 10/8/11 "DK" It was Selby's Market. Tommy Offutt, Butch Rau and I worked there all through high school. I also believe that when you took over my paper route, this is where they left the papers for us to deliver. Marion, Bub, Selby lived on Brookes Ave just off Frederick Ave a few houses up.
Barbara J. Brown 10/1/17 My aunt, Mazie D. McWhorter, worked as a bookkeeper for King Pontiac in the 1960's. I remember visiting her at work a few times when I was probably 7 or 8 years old. They were the good old days!
