BowmanMill

In the 1920s, the Bowman brothers of Germantown built a mill on Diamond Avenue that was in operation until the late 1960s. Today, the old mill has been preserved into Granary Row, complete with shops, a restaurant, and an automotive service center.

Laura 8/17/10 In the early 60s I lived right behind this mill, over the tracks. I think it was abandoned, my brother and I used to go in and play. The dangerous things kids do!
Deaner Lawless Jr. 2/23/11 Late 50's early 60's us boys on Diamond Ave would play here often. Hay forts. Collected pigeons. Slid down the grain bag shoot. Climbed the silos. You are so right Laura . . . . The dust from the grain drying would drift down to the house along with the wonderful aroma. The favorite way to the mill was the tracks!!! When we got tired playing here we would go to the other mill towards Washington Grove. No doubt stopping by the Gardners' to play on the tractors and bailers.
Danny Brodt 10/8/11 "DK" Bryant's Mill at the Grove end of Diamond ave was a favorite of Tommy Offutt, Butch Rau and others. We could go all over the mill and most of the workers knew we were there but let us go because they were taking a "brew break". Great times eh!!?? And Laura I delivered the paper to your house prior to Deaner taking over my paper route.
Fred 2/22/12 Laura, i grew up in deer Park too, Hutton Street. I remember when the mill burned. My book "The Legend of the Game Preserve Road Bridge" has a story about the mill in it.
Brenda 7/25/16 I lived across the road in East Deer Park Apartments
