Herman Rabbitt and Lawson King, 1959

For a number of years, farmers all over the County congregated at the farm of Herman Rabbitt on Sunday mornings just to talk things over. During one of these gatherings in November 1959, Walter "Ace" Hershey snapped this photograph, showing Rabbitt at left, sitting on an improvised bench with W. Lawson King. Behind them is a scale which was used to weigh cattle. Rabbitt, who died on October 10, 1972, called all his friends "Boy," regardless of age, with exception of Mr. King, whom he called "Shabby." The farm was located across the street from Criswell Chevrolet in Gaithersburg. -Gaithersburg Gazette 10/6/1972
